Gary Andersen has landed the first verbal commitment of his tenure at the University of Wisconsin.
The commit: Jakarrie Washington , a 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete from Everett (Mass.) High School.
"I was excited and I can't wait to be apart of the Wisconsin Badgers," Washington told Badger247 moments ago. "Coach (Bill) Bush was there (at my in-home visit) and said he wanted me and was excited about me."
Washington, a 2013 prospect, was named to the ESPN Boston 2012 MIAA All-State Team and is considered the fastest player in the state of Massachusetts.
As a senior, Washington caught 33 passes for 439 yards and nine touchdowns. He also carried the ball 75 times for 697 yards and 15 more scores.
Along with Wisconsin, Washington also held offers from Purdue, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Washington State. He has been recruited as a defensive back by the Badgers.
