Badgers have their quarterback

It was a long wait, but it was definitely worth it for the Wisconsin coaching staff, who finally landed a quarterback today.

McEvoy committed to Wisconsin.

Four-star signal caller Tanner McEvoy placed a call to the Wisconsin coaching staff Monday afternoon and notified them he would be playing for the Badgers next season.

"I just committed to Wisconsin," McEvoy told Badger247 Tuesday afternoon. "Coach Gary Andersen, Coach Andy Ludwig, Coach Bill Busch, we all built a great relationship. It just seemed like a great opportunity, great school, great program, and I'm just looking to come in and compete and see how it goes."

The four-star quarterback originally signed with South Carolina out of high school, before enrolling at Arizona Western College.

McEvoy took an official visit last Wednesday to Wisconsin and chose the Badgers over his other finalists Florida, Oregon, and West Virginia.

"They put a lot of effort into it," McEvoy said about the visit. "I've been on a lot of visits and this was by far the best one I'd say. They players I met were all great guys. They all seemed to have fun.

"The school itself surprised me. I didn't know how big the campus was and how big Madison was. There was just a lot of things. It all clicked and it seems like it's going to be the best move."

The nation's No. 1 ranked dual-threat junior college quarterback will enroll at Wisconsin in the summer. After going nearly an entire recruiting cycle without landing a commitment from a class of 2013 quarterback, the Badgers can now breathe a sigh of relief.

"They seemed pretty relieved," McEvoy said. "We've stayed in pretty close contact. I could tell that they were waiting. They definitely seemed really relieved."
