Who ever the new head coach is will decide which current assistants are retained. If BA is telling the new HC which assistants he has to retain, the potential HC, if he is any good, will walk away. He will want assistants loyal to him first not to Alvarez.
Looks as if Arkansas will be keeping their RB coach!!!!!!!!
Lets remember that BB went to Arkansas to hire the best assistants to make up for his lack of coaching ability. Why would he then go after our coaches who he has deemed as the cheap alternatives?
I'd really like to keep Partridge. Losing him & Ash would be tough. Keeping Hammock would also be nice, and I really like Bart Miller & Ben Strickland. Both guys are young, but they did a good job and know the Wisconsin mentality. We saw what happened when we tried to find a new O-Line coach.
I'd also like to keep Azzani, cuz he is a very good recruiter mainly.
As for Matt Canada, IDK, it probably depends on the HC. IF, and its a huge IF, Petersen came, I'd be really intrigued to see Canada work with Petersen. I think they would mesh very well, incorporating more variety possibly and less run up the middle.
Alvarez may give suggestions, but I doubt he will make the new HC retain every assistant.
I do think they need to keep some of the recruiters and some connections to the Badger program. Bart Miller on the field may be the most important assistant. We saw what happened with a non-UW O-Line coach. Vice-versa, Miller did a great job. Thats one thing the new HC should know, is that he shouldn't mess with the Badger O-Line program.
I also like Strickland. He is doing well as a recruiter and I thought did a good job with the DBs this year. He also is young and knows the UW program inside out, having played here not too long ago.
