You know BA isn't going to make that big hire. He's to old school. A lot of people will be disappointed. The coach he hires is going to be a coach that'll need to develope for a couple years. UW has an athletic department That is rich as shit but is to stubborn to spend the money. It's going to be the same song and dance with UW football, we'll never reach that national power.

The thing about BB I liked is he wanted to make the Badger brand a national brand and National Title contender. Whereas, BA was fine with a Rose Bowl game and a regional brand. That makes me wonder if he will make a big splash as well. This could be the first hire BA has had to make that requires him going outside the program.

I'm holding out hope for CP or Golden, but its not looking good.

Its looking like a small name hire. Give it a chance though. PSU hired a complete unknown named Bill O'Brien. He ended up winning B1G COY and took a very average 8-4 PSU team under sanctions to an 8-4 record. If not for his coaching that team is likely a 5-7 team. PSU made a good hire, albeit at the time not a popular one (everyone wanted Bradley, or Golden, or someone with PSU ties. Most PSU fans were outraged an outsider and unknown guy was hired. Now they love him).

Basically, while I'd prefer a name like Petersen or Golden, I won't throw the new guy under the bus. I believe its wrong to bash a new coach before he even coaches a game.

The only exception is Childress. He is not a good coach, college or NFL. He just does not have the personality to be a good HC. Fortunately, I think his name was more speculation due to his UW ties than Barry actually being interested in him.
