I wouldn't want to be in these kids shoes with all the home state people tugging at you to stay home, but that being said, it seems like some of these schools will never be able to make the flip to start winning. The only thing that is a sure thing for schools like Indy and Purdue and Illinois is that the only way the stands get filled is if the other team brings in 40% of the fans. Maybe if they start winning, that will change, but I can't see these teams winning. Now Indy and Illinois got new coaches, so maybe they can change, but Purdue was supposed to start winning also, and that isn't happening.
If Latham wants to stay home and play for Indy, I would never say its the wrong decision. I will feel bad for him that in 3 years if they still haven't turned it around and they are drawing 25000 people to a game while at UW they are still dawing 80000 and going to New Years Day bowls.
IU isn't going to become a factor in the Big Ten. When programs like IU and the UW fall on hard times, they need to catch lightning in a bottle to make a resurgence. Barry Alvarez and his first staff were incredibly special; Wilson is no Barry.
It also helps to have a good AD, but Badger I think you are 100% right about Wilson is no Barry.
