As a side note, I thought it was generally agreed our weakness last year was DE pass rush? Better add them to the list of things we do poorly.

So no one has complained about QB recruiting? No one has complained about WR recruiting? Please, though have been two huge problems in recruiting. People have complained about QB recruiting and WR for a while.

If we don't get lucky with Wilson, we were an 8-4 team.

What do you think of people who went to Drake?

I like Ash. I think he has done a pretty good in recruiting in Chicago. He has gotten some and missed on some. But he was new to the area, so I hope he is starting to his his stride.

As a DC, I don't know. I obviously want our Defense to play better. I thought he did well with our CB's last year. I thought Fenelus played well. Jean looked good. I liked that he blitzed more. I think this year will go a long way in helping to determine my opinion of him.

I am not so sure about Partridge. He has been a capable recruiter in FL. It's a tough job, and I think he has done well. Could have been better, but you always can. We have had a large number of FL busts though, but that might be expected. As a DL coach, I think he has been sainted by some because of what JJ watt did. Granted, Partridge had some part in his development. But where has the rest of the production been? We all agree that we need some help at the DE position. We have a bunch of kids there and someone needs to step up. I don't think you can say he needs to find the next Watt, because I think we got very lucky with Watt transfering in. Remember, we didn't recruit him out of high school. But we need more players on the DL. Where has been the play from the DT's? Besides Allen, where is a DT that can make a play?

Overall, I find our DL play unsatisfactory. Nothing special, with lots of things lacking. How many kids coming in with talent end up not becoming strong pass rushers?

I find the argument that we play a certain system to be something that helps us to answer why we don't have production from those positions and perhaps, if we do play that, is it because we can't recruit better players at those positions?

What do you think of the Drake guys?

People sometimes say that if you complain about recruiting, you don't like our players. But if our coaches can recruit these players and coach thm up, then they should be able to do even better with better players. And I say better players in refernce to the players they offered and wanted before the kids they got. I want an uptick in our recrutiing.

Drake, that was the LL test. You ripe on Defensive scheme, rip Hemer by name (classy by the way), and make negative statements about recruiting. I guess I could have asked about Stocco.

What about OB in 2010?

Wait, I've had this conversation before.

You say you want an Uptick in recruiting. I say one; we've been doing better these last few years, two; we've done pretty well with all these players that aren't very good in your estimation, and third; recruiting is fundamentally unfair, with 20 more years of success we might be considered a power.

Then you, or someone else, says that this is either defeatist, close minded, or the attitude of a loser. Also, that other teams do it, so why can't we (cite Iowa and there wild success).

I say we won 2 titles. You say, but no BCS or RB victories. I say the team is built to last, again thought to compete for a Big 10 crown. You say only if we get luck with a QB.

And on and on. Every off season. I can't wait for spring practices. Then we can argue about the failings of a team we can't watch based on a paragraph written by 1 man.
