No. 22 Wisconsin lost their second-straight game Thursday night at the hands of No. 10 Michigan State 58-43, as the Badgers are now eliminated from the Big Ten title chase.

because when/if they pound it inside, they get fouled.....and then miss ft's....I do wish they would post guys up more....Traevon played like a freshman, they needed way more out of him....

It's really interesting for me. I'm probably one of the few people in the world who cheers for Wisconsin and Michigan State. I went to MSU for school, but I grew up in Madison as a Badger fan. I now cheer for Wisconsin every game except when they play MSU.

I agree they need to get the ball inside more, even if just to work an inside/outside game. Brust, Dekker, and others could use the inside/outside game to get open outside shots. Wisconsin didn't shoot the ball well last night, but it seemed like there wasn't really much happening on offense for the Badgers in general and they settled for some tough shots. MSU is a tough match-up for Berggren (but, it's fair to say Nix and Payne give lots of big men fits). They actually rebounded the ball really well last night, but it seemed like the 12 offensive rebounds never turned into easy put back buckets (or when it did, they were down 20 and it didn't matter any more).

Also, can someone explain the following Bo Ryan quote to me? ""They were jumping the passing lanes. Every time we tried to attack they were active with their hands. I thought they were very aggressive with their hands. If you're not going to get a call in there, then a team's just going to continue to be aggressive and rake. If you don't call them, it's going to happen." Is Bo really complaining about the officials in a 20 point loss? Or am I reading it wrong? As a Badger fan, I've watched them do to other teams what MSU did to them last night many, many times. Brust, Jackson, and Marshall are all great at getting their hands on the ball as teams try to drive the lane on them. Trice, Harris, and Appling did it to the Badgers last night.

And if the good Lord’s willin’, I’m a keep on chillin’, refillin’ and flyin’ high

Bo was complaining about reaches and holds not getting called. If they won't call them, you're not going to get a quality shot, and if they're just going to slap you when you go inside, all you have left is 3s.

I'm really kind of surprised when people get all upset when we lose a game. It's pretty simple: when our PGs struggle--as they often do--they can't access passing lanes to get it inside, can't get dribble penetration and draw help for a dish for an open look, etc. If our 3s aren't falling, we're toast. And if they are falling, teams know they can go hack-a-shaq to slow it down.

  • Agreed Row, and we just got out muscled and out hustled...MSU was the tougher team last night, and that was the biggest difference.....

Actually the Badgers are tought to play defense with their feet and positioning, not by reaching. Sure, they reach to try and get a steal every now and then, but in comparison to other teams they do not reach often. With as offensively challenged as this team is the last thing the Badgers want to do is get cheap fouls called on them and send the other team to the line.
