I get the laugh as its currently a position of strength, but we've only signed one DT in the last two classes, and Goldberg is a project... Not much of a depth chart for when he would be really competing for playing time.

DT is a position of strength??? Guess I must have been watching a different Wisconsin Badger team than some on this board. I know they have a lot of bodies but it's not like they have anything in the form of NFL talent. JMO but if a stud freshman came in this year I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be playing by year 2.

It's the deepest position on the defense headed into this season... The rotation of Allen, Hemer and Kohout is really the only complete unit we have right now.
And the rest of the defense isn't exactly loaded with NFL talent.

Valid points. I was just saying a dynamic DT could conceivably come in and play early because it's not like anyone other than Allen is a penetrator IMO. Hopefully the return of David Gilbert will help the entire DL out immensely. Open some things up inside a bit.

I don't disagree with you, but I'm not sure Nelson falls under dynamic DT at this point either... He'll have a learning curve.

i actually meant it as a position of weakness. They should sell the DT weakness as a recruiting pitch even more. Nelson already has the size, doesn't need to be beefed up, and will play with leverage unlike the blockable hemer.
