PSU visit opens Thorpe's eyes

  • Visit Opens Thorpe's Eyes

Shaler (Pa) point guard Geno Thorpe is one of the top players in the Keystone State’s Class of 2013, and the junior prospect traveled to visit Penn State this past weekend.

  • Really hope Geno is able to make the planned trip to Madison. If he was impressed with Penn St., I'd like to think he would love a weekend in Madison with a football and basketball game (no offense to Happy Valley). It would be understandable to see him stay out east, but it would be tough if he went somewhere we would see him multiple times.

It really seemed when I spoke with him as though he did in fact intend on making both the visit to K-State as well as Wisconsin. Seems like a great kid, would be huge for the Penn State program if he chose to stay in-state but the allure of a bigger program such as Wisconsin might be too much. We'll see, Evan will keep you posted on your end I'm sure.

Thanks, Andrew. It would appear the new Penn St. staff has made Geno a priority. Do you have a sense for how hard Pitt is recruiting him? I always assumed that they were the favorite, but they don't seem to be pushing all that hard for him.

He mentioned going to Pitt for a football game, but I didn't get the sense they were a huge player. Could be wrong, but I definitely don't think they are the favorite.
