Natter holds six offers

Arguably one of the top 2013 prospects in the state of Wisconsin, A.J. Natter, of Milton (Wis.) High School, has seen his recruiting stock soar over the last month.

    Wisconsin. Badgers.

  • I find it interesting that South Florida is going to start recruiting Wisconsin...

  • Final quote regarding a timetable for his decision...

"I'm keeping my doors open right now. I'm taking all options into consideration. I can tell you this, I think National Signing Day is a bunch of crap. I really don't like that stuff, waiting until the last minute to pull out a hat. It shows that you're more about individuality and that stupid stuff. It really lets down the coaches that have been recruiting you the whole time. It really leaves them hanging..." - Natter

  • love that attitude about NSD. i say we offer and see what happens

    WindyCityBadger

  • He really thinks Wisconsin is in crisis mode. Hopefully that doesn't affect too many 2013 recruits. The good news is that it is still early. Hopefully the Junior days are not a cluster.

    Badgergrove

  • Is his current opinion of UW so skewed that he thinks they would try and get an in-state player of his caliber to walk on? I hope not. Plus, "crisis mode"?

    Edit - Cleared up!

  • Good article. A lot of good information in there. This site continues to have the best recruit interviews and insight.

As for the crisis mode, probably the wrong word to use, but I think he just understands why Wisconsin has been slow to get an offer as they get set to reorganize the staff and recruiting territories

  • I just received a message from A.J.--

"Can you tell the members that "crisis" wasn't the word choice I intended to use. I meant to say that there were a lot of changes occurring in Madison and I know that the recruiting coaches are gone. I didn't mean it in a negative way at all and it will not sway my interest one bit. All I meant to say was that they were going through changes and I understand that."

This kid screams Wisconsin and is fits exactly what BB has been trying to build the last few years. Good for him. Offer already.

  • When I first saw his film months ago I could see this kid was a player. Lots and lots of potential. He should be number 1 in-state priority and one of the top priorities period for 2013. I love his quote about NSD. Clearly a UW type player. Let's get this young man!!!

P.S. I like Obasih and James as well. Sucks they all play the same position. With James' speed could he transition to LB possibly?

I was pondering the same thing the other day in regards to James.

LB is clearly one of the strengths of this team, maybe UW would consider a switch to a 3-4. (Please don't kill me fellas). They strike out consistently on Dlineman and seems like they have more LB interest then we are able to take every year. Plus it wouldn't hurt in pass coverage. I know almost nobody runs a 3-4, but with scUM, O$U, and Nebraska all running a spread it also gets more speed on the field.

Personally, I'd like to see UW run a 4-3 defense, but the with the WDE playing out of a 3-point stance more often. Get a hybrid guy in there like OB that can run the passer, but also play sideline to sideline in run support. Getting the right personnel is obviously the main issue. I think if we ran a true 3-4 we'd be in trouble. You really need a true head-up nose tackle to pull that off, and we just don't have that type of player on our roster. We'd get killed between the tackles.

Hahahaha. That was awesome. I knew he didn't mean it as a disadvantage or whatever, I just was afraid UW wasn't being clear about how much they want him. Even though there have been many great walk-ons, you're much more coveted than that, A.J.!

    Roosh

  • Sounds like a good fit for the UW. We have some ground to make up,but I think he ends up at Madison.
