I agree. The 10-yard cushion on the corners is ridiculous. We need a new defensive scheme.
We need to recruit bump and run corners. The soft zone on the outside can't continue.
I really hope his NIU job didn't affect the game preparation.
I really felt like Chryst got WAYYYY to "cute". Scotty is very solid but we did not need to throw 21 times or so times. Nor did we need to do pitches. By throwing and doing pitches we were playing into their strengths. When we ran the ball UP THE MIDDLE their we holes ten yards wide. I could get ten yards. Why did we only decide that the last drive was the time to figure that out. And then on the 2 point conversion WHY were we throwing the ball? Can Johnny not get two and a half yards behind the best tackle in college football, an All-American guard, a top blocking tight end or fullback, and a top center? The coach even said that they could not stop the run, yet we passed? I have also hated these "soft zones" for years. A team finally took advantage of it and it cost us.
