Four-star Offensive Tackle J.J. Denman has de-committed from Wisconsin and committed to play at Rutgers.

  • This sucks, Dodson seems like he will decomitt too.

  • This really hurts that were loosing Denman, and possibly Dodson. But on the other hand I think we put together a really solid class that could have been great if we would have gotten those two or Diamond. Hopefully we can continue to attract some big time recruits to Mad-town and start landing more of them. Maybe we will land Myers or Meador and they will turn into something down the road.

  • Regardless of circumstances any kid who switches schools twice in a cycle is against the odds to begin with. I know these are just kids, but I lose a lot of respect for them when they do it at the end. His excuse was not knowing our coaches anymore. Well dude you know the head coach or at least you should. Just one question for you...how did you form this lasting bond with the Rutgers coaches? a recruiting trip? like the one you were supposed to take to Wisconsin? Have fun in the pinstripe bowl or transfering when you don't start.

I think his dad pushed Rutgers to him too.

It's funny, I had a friend like this that would always flip schools although it wasn't for athletics. First he sent in his paperwork that he was attending Michigan, he totally bought into the prestige. Then he visited Madison with me and flipped to Madison. Sent in paperwork that he wouldnt be going to Michigan. Then his dad was pushing Minnesota, so he decided to go to Minnesota. He sent in the paperwork that he wasn't going to Wisconsin. Then he wanted to go back to Wisconsin so he called back admissions and told them to disregard his last paperwork. Then he got into the business school at Minnesota and once again switched to Minnesota.

There is something to be said about being decisive. A lot of people questioned his decision making skills after that whole fiasco. Once he got to college he failed to make smart decisions as well. He just wasn't mature enough to handle it and didn't do as well as his high school grades and ACT score projected he would. You often see prospects flip in the process, and it always reminds me of my buddy. I don't think it's any coincidence that these kids flop more often than a typical recruit.

  • Add to that most parents wouldn't let their kid commit and decommit 2 or 3 times. My parents would make me honor my commitment unless it was similar situation to this new OL Meyers kid. He didn't have many offers and probably felt he had to commit to NIU early or he could lose out. I have limited respect for guys with offers from multiple BCS schools that flip late in the process.

  • Rumors out there right now saying Greg Schiano may be the next Head Coach of the Buccaneers. Wonder if Denman opens it up again.

Any chance he'd switch back to UW? Do you think BB would accept him?

  • Perhaps Leonte Carroo as well?

  • I'd think he'd be Pitt bound if it opens up again. At this point, because he never visited to meet Magnuson, Bostad and Chryst are the most familiar coach to him this late in the process. Hope I'm wrong though!

  • At what point do kids learn to pick the school and not the assistant coach? It seems like there is more movement than ever before, so this will just keep happening around the country. Just going to get worse.

  • From an article on TOS:

Denman and Muller are offensive linemen from Pennsylvania. Denman switched from Wisconsin just last week. Denman has not commented but his father reportedly has told people, "This changes everything."
