Sounds like he really does have his hands tied with the state hiring law....
PS- Evan, get a hair cut. You look like a scrub.
Barry Alvarez speaks to the media as the Badgers prepare for Stanford in the Rose Bowl. The Athletic Director and interim coach updates the on-going coaching search.
Not the first time I've heard that this weekend.

I'm going to put this here. I said this in another thread.
About that talk...did anyone else feel BA basically admitted he was out of touch with how fast and unpleasant modern collage football is? He talked about how it was only 10 days and that other coaches put time deadlines on the assistants. I've said from the start....everyone has switched to this new model of agents and search firms and they get stuff done real quick for a reason. Good ol boy calling your buddies is not how it works anymore.
Hopefully he gets a good guy, but it was disheartening hearing him basically admit he would have liked to keep some assistants and they did not stay.
"We don't care about anything but winning. No one cares about ethical standards thats for losers..."
BUCKNUTS 21 self trolling.
They did not stay because BA could not guarantee that the new coach would retain them.
Right. That's the problem. It took a long time and he was surprised others used it against him. If he really can't secretly hire a coach prior to the regulation (something I doubt but assuming he is just too honorable to do something like this) then every other coach knows about this rule and will use it against him. Why would they not? Maybe 20 years ago they wouldn't have, but the money and the stakes are much higher today.
I'm sure the actual coach he hires will be good, but it would have been nice to keep around some of these assistants he identified as good. We've managed to hold on to 2 former GAs, a guy who played for him, and another who owes his career to BA. The fact that he was surprised/disappointed is what I don't care for.
Kyle, if he has his hands tied with the hiring, couldn't he name the coach right after the 2 weeks is done?
Yes. That's what I expect.
When two weeks is up... We'll know of the coach.
my favorite part of the video is the facial expression when Barry says "everyone wants to coach in the Big Ten"

Personally I believe that Kyle believes that Al Golden will become the new head coach. I think Golden is willing to accept the job but needed to wait to accept the job because of the two week period. Golden did not want to put anyone under the bus by stating he was going to accept the job when he reportedly turned it down.
I think it's going to be someone we haven't been talking about. I've bounced between names...
Next I thought, Campbell.
Again I thought, Tucker.
Now.... "Unknown name."
No one knows other than Barry.
So your saying that it could be Kyle Heikkinen? Did you send in your resume?
If that is true, I would think he knows his guy already. I don't know if he does, but I also wouldn't put money on it either.
It would be one heck of a promotion from varsity QB and special teams coach at Fort Atkinson High School.
You've got varsity experience. What is your policy on offering Ks?
