If it's Tucker, they don't have to wait until after the season. They should name him on the 20th and 21st. He can do two jobs at once. NFL coaches have done it before. Weis coached in the playoffs and was HC at ND. It can and should be done, if Tucker is the guy.
Not a very exciting hire and not likely to be around long enough to make a difference anyway. Hardly the savior or anyone that is going to have Urban Meyer or Hoke shaking in their boots. A ho-hum, stop gap hire at best.
I disagree, but I'll try and keep an open mind. Why are you so against it/who would you rather have?
Everyone has their opinion but an alumnus NFL defensive coordinator ought to be exciting IMO. To me only Petersen is a more exciting possibility. Who are the more exciting options that are realistic? We don't pay enough to steal many highly successful head coaches away from their current jobs. So to that extent everyone is sort of ho hum.
If it is Tucker, l will think he isn't here for the long run.
As opposed to... Peterson? Riley? Bevell? Campbell? Diaco?
Of all the names thrown out thus far, considering age (in both directions) and potential, I'd personally think --after Chryst-- he'd be in it for the long run as much as anyone else.
Anyone who comes here and is successful will get the opportunity for a bigger job. You'd think an alum would be as safe as anyone.
I would agree and if Chyrst wants to be here, why wouldn't UW get him.
Tucker brings an NFL pedigree, Youth (40 years old) College experience at OSU and LSU under two of the best coaches in college (Saban and Tressel) and a close relationship with Barry. No idea how he is a stop gap.

Very good article on Tucker's background and whether he'd be a good fit at the UW.

In Part Seven of our series, we talk about the Jacksonville Defensive Coordinator, and wonder, wheres his interview?
