Travis Frederick - C - Badgers
SI's Tony Pauline passes along word that the speculation around Wisconsin junior C Travis Frederick is that he will enter April's Draft.
Frederick will wait until after the team's bowl game to announce his official decision. The 2013 class lacks clear names at the top for the center position, so Frederick's decision may be an easy one. The massive blocker is at his best getting push in the running game, and a switch to guard is not out of the question.
Sucks if true, but the next man in shouldn't be so bad...
Dan Voltz will pick up right where Frederick left off. Poor move on Fredricks part I think but he's got to do his own thing. Next man in keep rolling
The line could be extremely solid if he were to return as I think he would move to guard and Voltz would start.
This doesn't surprise me. Volt will be good and this would be a net positive for recruiting.
wow. Big mistake if true. He is a 4th-5th rounder this year. Could be as high as a 2 next year.
He needs to have a big Rose Bowl to be a high draft choice.I would prefer he stay.
Why because open spot or another lineman to the NFL? I don't mean any disrespect, I just want to see what you are seeing. Thanks
This would absolutely shock me, one of the reasons, along with a log jam at guard two years ago, He redshirted because he was going to school for computer engineering. A program which on average takes 6 years that we has going to do in 5. He would be a great pro, most likely a projected guard but he will finish his degree, his stock can only go up. His redshirt helped the team in the long run but he did it more for himself to finish his degree during his time in school because he knew it would take 5 years.
Did players get their grades back from the NFL advisory board yet? I'd be curious to know what grade he will / did receive.
A degree is worth only what job it can get you. If he is tired of different coaches and thinks he can get paid this year good for him.
"We don't care about anything but winning. No one cares about ethical standards thats for losers..."
BUCKNUTS 21 self trolling.
Highspeed, did you happen to see the JSonline article with the players and Miller? Its really shows how the players really enjoyed playing for Miller this year. You might have hit on something with the different coaches he has had, with another new one on the way.
There's a lot of unknown with a new head coach, a new offensive staff, and a change in position coach for the third straight year. Gary Anderson has said he will run the same system, but that is only proven until it is shown. The players also do not know the coaching style. If Mr. Frederick feels he can hack it in the NFL, and he decides to leave, I wish him the very best and I hope he makes it a successful term while in the league.
I hope to god GA keeps Miller. He's pretty much the last OL Coach with ties to Bostad. After the job he did this year he deserves that job. We need Miller to keep the tradition going.

I did see that and thought it was very cool. I'm not knocking the new OL guy, but this last year showed just how a coach can mess stuff up and I imagine this is in the front of every OL's mind even if their not leaving.
He also might have been talking to last years OL class in the NFL. Maybe he thinks he is just as good and can get himself some money.
Both. He's a guy that played as a true freshman and is potentially coming out early. That's the unrealistic vision that every 4-5* recruit has for himself. Plenty of schools use the redshirt reputation of UW against us on the recruiting trail. Here is a counter-argument.
Thanks, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. It sure puts it out there that the best play no matter what yr or what they did in HS.
The new guy was actually Miller's position coach at New Mexico and succeeded Bostad there. There's some loose ties.
Some how I hope they are able to keep Miller on the staff. Where would UW be today if they hadn't have Miller on staff after the MM mess.
