No one can predict the future, but if he stays for this year, and not go to Pitt, could he have found a better job this year?
I don't think so. Pitt is not a terrible first gig. The major programs wouldn't hire a first year head coach IMO. Most coaches start out at smaller schools and work their way up over time.
Pitt was headed to the ACC before Chryst was hired. Despite all the turmoil the ACC is one of the top 5 conferences in the country. Very few get their first HC job at that level.
Yea I think you guys are right, unless you get a big school that everybody turns down. If that happens, there reason why people are tuning it down.
IMO Pitt is a solid first job. Nice recruiting area. Good tradition.
However, they need to get out of that NFL stadium. Terrible, terrible atmosphere. Pitt needs a smaller stadium with a more intimate setting---On campus.
I live in Pittsburgh and couldn't agree more. The stadium is not near the campus. I hear more about Penn State and West Virginia in Pittsburgh than of Pitt
Do you think football could be like basketball for some teams where they move the bigger games to the bigger arenas? I am guessing for Pitt to put something on campus could be 40 to 50,000 or are you thinking something smaller then that?
Pitt needs a stadium that seats about 50,000. Like Minnesota. Create some scarcity.
Agree. Something in the 40k-50k range.
Create a better atmosphere. More intitmate. Allow the fans to be a factor.
I would say yes now.
I see Michigan State as a destination, not a stop.~Mark Dantonio
