Man, I don't even want to get a sh*t storm started here, but that looked a lot like the same-old-same-old last night. Part of me thinks u have to let Anderson get his guys in the system before u judge, but part of me says they have a loaded team and there are no excuses. It was just to typical for comfort. We saw little no adjustment is the ASU game. So is this what we will continue to see moving forward? I love what Anderson is doing from an ethical (per say) standpoint but worry a little about we will see on the field. 2 quick points I want to make regarding that 1. We absolutely will need to return to form on the online to compete with the big boys and I'm not sure if Anderson can do that. Not because I think he is a bad coach but because, from a recruiting standpoint, it's hard to do what we have in past years. 2. (And this is kind of random) we need to stop with the whole Samoan thing. They are not subhuman or something. Yes, they produce some very good football player relative to population percentage, but a player is a player. We aren't going to pull the top kids from the usual schools consistently. So.... Is the QB situation handcuffing this team? The d line? We have 2 losses after 5 games. There are no excuses; We have a loaded team. It's been a long time since we have had 2 losses after 5 weeks. What's the best now; cap one? I'm really not trying to act like badgers football is done, but it warrants questioning. I sure hope we can start winning these games
Not lining up wrong, not getting false starts, covering a deep route with 8 seconds left and catching balls that hit you in the hands( o&d), don't require any better talent than is currently on the roster, IMO.
Edit. Consistency in the FG department probably does require a change

Woke up still drunk I see...
If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting
In order to win these games we need to wis the recruiting battles and this new staff will be judged on that. They are selling recruits on the future because they will be tinkering with the offense and we need the speed on both sides. Our 2 losses were mistake losses, and its not like we lost to a crappy team, both being on the road. 5 games into his time and it sounds like you want to fire Gary...relax and let them do their work
Little, but still goin! I see by the down vote (not that I care) people are takin this as me saying Anderson sucks. That's not what I'm saying. Just hope this doesn't become the norm. If u asked me before the game how I thought it would go, that's exactly it. At least we can go on the road and make it a game though. Could be worse, but I want better.

My questions are..did we see this amount of mistakes in any game prior to this? Nope
Have we played a team that skilled on the road yet? Nope
After the first two series, did we see a team panicking? Nope
Did we see a coach get animated or anxious (visibly)? Nope
Is OSU more talented...probably. Were they more experienced? Likely
We have a defense making a 3-4 transition and doing a heck of a job. There is a reason Shelton is starting as a freshman...very talented, and better than the rest on the squad. PJ is a vet, but little playing experience. Same with Hillary.
OSU is a better team....not significantly better, but better none-the- less. If we play a clean game, we likely win. But you can't make mistakes like we did, on the road against team like OSU and win. The mistakes made....we hadn't seen so far this year. Until it becomes a trend, no need to dwell on it.
I'm disappointed that we lost, but optimistic of where this team is going.
I'm disappointed that the team let another big win slip through their fingers. I know Bielema said that 2013 would be his "loaded" team, but anyone who thinks this team is loaded needs to take a better look. This team is good, but there are plenty of deficiencies. Stave is decent but not great, the secondary is green, the kicking game is subpar, the receiving core outside of one player is terrible, the offensive line is ok but not up to the standards we are used to, and even the defensive line is pretty good but not outstanding. With the schedule they got left they'll end up with 9 or 10 wins and be in a pretty decent bowl game. Pretty much what I expected when the season started.
"Its been a long time since we have had 2 losses after 5 weeks"
Last year's team says Hello
You reference loaded a few times. This is primarily the same team that finished 8-6 last year and except for one game was not what I would consider world beaters.
The d-line, while a veteran group and technique sound, is athletically challenged to generate a pass rush. Transforms a mediocre secondary into a bad one. Dez played like a lost freshman.
I share your disappointment in the early two losses, but taking off the red and white goggles, this season's start was pretty realistic.
Better days ahead. Give GA more than a 5 game leash.
With a few small tweaks this is a top15 team, and truthfully maybe just one of these puts us at 5-0.
- average or above kicker
- another WR though hard to say given the next one
- I am sure people are looking at Stave stats saying he had a great game, but he is still making a lot of the same mistakes with accuracy and staring receivers down. He could have had 4 picks. The TD throw to Abby was a beauty. Still throws a high percentage behind receivers and at feet. Abby made some awesome catches that almost got him killed.
-a smarter safety
All in all given all that we still could be 5-0 if the ball ever bounced our way. I have never been around a more unlucky team. Like the bad snap at the end of the game pops right into his hands instead of going over his head. Gods are toying with us.
I going to have to disagree with you alittle. You can't go into the shoe, without a pretty good team and be in the position like the Badgers were yesterday. I think you are 100% right that the team let a big win slip through their fingers.
Really because I saw a defense that got lit up in the first half hold them to only 7 in the second half. It's a young team at lot of important positions they played well minus a few mistakes get over it. Next year when OSU is missing their top two wide outs and have no experienced QB's on the roster they'll have to deal with the same thing.
I agree that they're a pretty good team. I think they end up 10-2. However, they have too many issues to be a great team. Great teams don't let opportunities like that slip through their fingers and play dumb football.
FEW MISTAKES. Yeah! And why are we seeing the same mistakes????? That's the whole freaking point! It's impressive that we can go on the road like that and compete but that makes it all the more frustrating that we can do so and still give it up over stupid things
Anybody else wonder if having to practice against, for the most part, scrub receivers hurts our DBs' development?
The failure to have the right D in at the end of the half was so dumb I cannot forgive the coaches. Major brain fart. Of course OSU was not going to settle--they take a shot and we have base D in not playing extra deep and no extra help. . Fuck that.
Yup. That play made me sick; was like watching a repeat of two years ago. How do you give that up? It's just so hard to watch because u know somehow its going to happen. Really was hoping that would be over with the new coaching. Still plenty if time to turn it around I just REALLY hope that doesn't continue
If it does, I would have to think it would help the WR more . I am guessing all get their shots with covering Abby
They are a good to very good team but recruiting needs to improve. They had 4 former walk-ons starting last night and a 5th playing a lot of WR. UW has a history with walk-ons but that just seems like to many.
"We don't care about anything but winning. No one cares about ethical standards thats for losers..."
Do you know what a paragraph is? I'm not reading that cluster fuck.
Science H. Logic
You need a Valium. I think the bye week will be good for you. The defense we ran should have easily prevented that play. Easily. If they cover that the way they should people would be sitting around saying why didn't they go for a quick 10 yard out and a FG try instead of throwing a desperation toss to the end zone on 4th down and ending the drive?

No we need to learn from our mistakes. For whatever reasons we are not good enough on D for long passes with time running out. So you dont keep doing the same fucking thing again. You FIX it. You call time and get their FULL attention. You move them back farther. Add another safety or DB or two. No time for base D. It was idiotic based on prior results.Id have much preferred giving them giving up 10 yds for a long FG try. MUCH PREFERRED. That play ripped the heart out that team. Took a quarter to recover. It was stupid and a major fuckup by the staff.
The players were in a 3 deep zone, screwed up their assignments and got burned.
Then again, I'm sure some football staff pays you a ton to know what you're talking about.
Bottom line is, we're right where we were expected to be. Honestly people, take off the homer goggles for a minute. Even preseason you knew ASU and OSU were two TOUGH teams in primetime on the road. We left a lot of mistakes on the field both games and we were still within one play of winning both games. It's not like we're getting pantsed -- we lost the two games we were "supposed to", but having looked at the schedule this morning, I don't think we lose any more we aren't supposed to. Northwestern is no slouch, but we get them at home after a bye week. Who knows, if the Cats somehow win this weekend, we're sitting pretty going into Homecoming with a lot of excitement surrounding October 12.
It was a failure of carrying out assignments, not a failure of strategy. With a different strategy and the same lack of attention to their assignments the results are the same. Conversely, with any reasonable strategy that play is prevented if assignments are carried out.
