Taking that game to overtime has got to be near the top of the list. I just can't fathom why you would go that route. Risk players getting hurt in OT in a game that has no effect on our B1G title hopes. We have no kicker, our D is tired, our O was shut down all 2nd half besides the last drive. Go with the momentum and try to WIN a game. If anyone can give me 1 solid reason to kick that extra point I'd love to hear it. Bielema took the pussy way out and he cost us the game
The only reasons I can come up with is 1 he thinks that UW is better then PSU and 2 and week he was saying they will play the last 2 games their hardest. If they would go for 2, maybe it looks like they are taking easy way out.
I agree with you, he should have went for it. Missing it meant nothing.
And if he had done what you wanted and it did not work then someone else would be on here posting about the blunder BB made.
That's a nonsense argument. State a reason/point and I will take you serious
We won the toss and held them to a field goal, it should've at the least gone to second OT. Welch has absolutely killed us this year, granted that one was a tough kick but ya know sometimes you just gotta step up
I wish Welch was still our kicker. We would have probably made to a second overtime and still had a chance.
Because I have been watching UW message boards for years. The fans all know more then the coaching staff. No matter what the Coaches do they get blamed by somebody. There is no more guarantee that the 2 point conversion would have been successful then there was in winning in OT.
+1, spot on analysis.
If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting
Let me ask everybody. Do we now think it might be worth a scholarship to spend on a top kicker & maybe not have 10 WR's on our roster?
French was a highly regarded kicker out of HS. He was not the problem in this game. Canada and not stopping the middle run was.
I think French missed a tough kick, but a kick that needs to be made. The back up kicker is good also, but needs game kicks to get better. I would guess during a day of games anything from 40 plus is 50%.
BB said in the post game that he planned to go for 2 but he used the 2pt play on the TD.
That's insane. "The" 2-pt play? Canada doesn't have more than one? Amazing.
Rowwell, you got me thinking. Is BB saying saying that a round about way ripping Canada?
That is what I was thinking also. If so, having the head coach call you out symbolizes larger problems. That stuff should be kept behind closed doors. Especially since BB hired him
Maybe its a way to get feelers out there that UW might be looking around without saying it. That would make alot more sense they saying they have 1 play.
That reflects on HC as much as the OC. Either BB never asked Canada all season what his options were if he needed a 2-pt coversion or he knew that they only had 1 play for that situation and never demanded that Canada come up with more options and install them at some point during the season. It's crazy.
Yea I agree. I have to believe that they have to work on these sometime in practice. When I start thinking about everything, I come up with this game doesn't mean squat compared to next weeks game. I know you want to put stuff on film that the other team has to work on it, but you also want some stuff to surprise them. That seems more logical then them just having 1 play.
Goaline and short yardage plays are practiced all the time.
The problem is the compressed field.
Obviously if it was 3rd and 9 we would have given the ball to Ball.
The Bigeddysprings is not a horse.
nah. you do that through agents etc.
Then I give up
Wait!! I don't believe what I'm hearing! That's Matt Canada's music!!!
