ESPN quoting BA saying no more FCS opponents in the B1G.
BUT he says "The nonconference schedule in our league is ridiculous," -- which leads me to ask, is that a 'realization' or is he not primarily influencing who they play? Maybe a shot at Bert? Not sure how these things always work.
Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says Big Ten officials recently agreed to stop scheduling non-conference games against FCS programs.
This is definitely good news, but only to an extent. We'll still see the likes of Akron, Buffalo, North Texas, UTEP, Tulane etc. Its a move in the right direction at least.
Great. Now give me 10 conference games and ill be happy. I bet there are more than a few FCS ADs that are pissed. They have to replace about 1/3 of their revenue stream
Thats what I was wondering. Is this move going to hurt or even close down some schools FB program without the payday?
I know the B1G is pushing hard for everyone to do this. If others don't follow suit I can't imagine the B1G sticking to their guns and being the only one that won't schedule them Everyone says teams need tougher schedules but most don't want to be the only one with a tougher schedule. I guess we will see if it lasts. Won't fix the problem of scheduling bad teams. They will schedule horrid FBS teams now
The FCS teams are kind of on Screwed though. They don't make enough money for the NCAA to care about them and the big brother who took care of them is about to kick them out the door
