If he can smoke as much weed as reported and still play at such a high level why not take a chance at him? Chances are you can get him to clean up his act when paying him so much money. Regardless, such a good player should be given a chance and should excel in the nfl.
Why wouldn't ESPN show him as much as they did? People on here are even talking about him more than Montee getting drafted. It's a compelling story with people who feel strongly on one side or the other. Same goes for the Te'o story. Are there people out there who are much more deserving of the spotlight? Absolutely, but controversy makes for great press..
That being said, I wouldn't be upset if I never heard another story about either of them again, but wish them both the best of luck.
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."
People who claim to be addicted to pot make me laugh. I know people like that, and all of them are just plain stupid. After listening to his draft day interview i'd say he's in the same boat. Total dumbass, and their's a reason he couldn't make it through 3 years at LSU with them covering up as much as they could.

That's the biggest part for me. When you listen to him you wonder if he is even a 5th grade equivalent. Granted it is sad that people pass him through the system, but taking the ride is also a choice. I just don't think he is that talented at a position. He made some big plays blitzing at LSU, but I have never seen him excel in coverage.
I liked when he said he would put anything in his contract like drug testing. He must have been on something to think a team wouldn't have that in his contract.
This is cool...
@usnikefootball: The 3rd round isn't primetime. But sometimes the picks are. @DangeRussWilson http://t.co/yyVEwplPXY
You hit the nail right on the head my friend. Sadly, this is the sports world we live in. I would press mute any time Eisen started referring back to Te'o, Smith, or Mathieu (NFL Network). I hate it, but I also realize it's not going to stop.
I wish them luck as well. Te'o's situation was unfortunate and he deserves to be left alone. Mathieu has the chance to stay clean with plenty of familiar supporters around him in Arizona. If he can't do it their, he will never do it.
But then you have stories about the Neb team and the little kid running for a touchdown, or Frazier from the Reds hitting the home run for the Downs kid, and I would hope that people like those stories as well and would like to see more of them.
Wow 49ers killing the 4th rd and the packers sucking it up. Not impressed with there picks
Funny I love what the packers did.
Packers have had a nice draft but Niners are on another level.
If the Pack can get Da'Rick Rogers and Rambo with the next two picks ill be stoked. TT
Ricky Wagner to Baltimore... Last pick of the 5th round.
Congrats to Rick Wagner!
They actually did a study on the Honey Badger and how if you break it down the guy actually got burned quite a bit. He made some big plays as well, the kid does have ball skills. However, his actual coverage skills are pretty average.
I think he was draftable, but not in Rd 3. I would have taken him in Rd 4 or 5.
And the reason really isn't character. Its mainly that I don't think his coverage skills right now are very good. He has potential. Potential means mid-round prospect to me.
Thought it worth noting that Utah State RB Kerwynn Williams went to Colts with the 24th pick in the 7th round... He is the 3rd RB drafted from the school in the last 2 years. Pretty impressive considering we hadn't had a RB taken before Montee since Calhoun.
They also had a corner go in the third. Not bad at all for USU.
