I wouldn't call it a failure if they don't get a return game at Lambeau. I'd be disappointed if they couldn't work out at the very least a neutral site for neutral site, but there's no denying that even if you only get to play LSU in Houston its still great exposure for the program.
You are getting the exposure in 2015. Its basically a home game for lsu so in no means will it be called a neutral game. Aside from lambeau there is no other stadium(nfl) to do the game in. People please don't waste time by replying soldier field because don't see that doing anything for wisconsin.
If only houston is on table move on to another team.
If it is Houston only then we are the biggest pushovers in the world and look like a Mac team. Given we already did Bama in Dallas. This is why SEC never plays out of their reach. Everyone let's them. That and they are pussies.
I wish there was more appeal for a game in, say St. Louis. That's pretty much in between Madison and Baton Rouge. Never going to happen though.
I'll agree that they're pussies. They're LSU dammit. Act like you got a pair and agree to play us in our backyard!
wow.... a lot of keyboard muscles here....let's be real....Wisconsin is not Bama or LSU....3 Rose Bowl losses does not equal 1 or several National Championship appearances....What these games do, whether it be in Lambeau, or JJones fiasco in Dallas, is give us a win.......when you walk into a recruits home anyplace across the country and say "We're playing Bama and LSU" guys eyes will light up........These games get Wisconsin to the next level regardless of where they are played.......BA and GA are not pussies, their respective "pairs" are saying, we will play anyone anywhere....it sends a message to your players and recruits.....Bring it on.....
No, many of the teams down south are pussies because they in large part refuse to play outside their own back yard. I'm not really even calling for LSU to play one game at Lambeau and be done with it. I want a home and home or at the very least if were going to agree to play in Houston I think it would be cool to have a return neutral game in Green Bay.
In the end I'm still fine if its a one time shot against them in Houston because like I said, its great exposure for our program and I'm glad were not scared to play them somewhere that will be undoubtedly very pro LSU. I know the SEC is the best conference, but if they truly are why are their teams seemingly afraid to come up north to play a decent opponent? Man up SEC. Afterall, if the teams are so good they should mop the floor with our yankee asses no matter where the game is, right?
Bama and LSU have probably earned the right to pick and choose. Kind of the same reason Garth Brooks quit playing at HS gyms. People come to him. Not the other way around. All you can do is beat them on a neutral field and hope to change the perception a bit. Beat them and you will have some pull.
Garth Brooks? What is this 1995?

Yeah, beat Bama and LSU in Texas and the whole SEC will be lining up to play us in Madison. Doesn't work that way. You don't need to be a top 3 team in the country to be entitled to a home game against a good team. We don't need to always get the short end of the deal. If they won't do it find a different partner.
Shyeah maybe we can play someone in Georgia haha. Talk about recruiting benefits.. better make it a Florida team though so its a neutral site.
Well. Lady Gaga then. LOL
I wasn't implying if UW wins people will line up to play them. Just that you need to change the perception. And right now the perception nationally is Bama and LSU are 10s and UW is a 6. And yeah you could try and find someone else, but they won't be near the level of those two. Really, the only big dog I remember traveling was USC under Carroll. They would play anywhere.
Obviously these games don't work unless there is at least one 10 in the game. Otherwise the payout isn't high enough to justify the one-time road game - I get that. You can't play Georgia Tech in Atlanta and hope to make as much money as playing LSU in Houston. But you can't just bend over every year. These games are played for exposure and there are diminishing returns to this type of exposure every year. If you're going to play a national championship caliber opponent, at least play them in a place we recruit like Atlanta. Maybe LSU and Bama are the only two BA wants to do, and I know this isn't even finalized yet, but obviously UW wants in on the game, which is enough to make my point. If you're going to act like a b&%ch you're going to get treated like a b&%ch.
there is no system of entitlement in scheduling. It is only implied by the continual acceptance of shitty deals. My point they are only taking advantage of what people give them. Stop giving it to them and it will stop happening. I would love to go back and do a home and home with an Oregon, which would accomplish the majority of what we are trying to do.
Outside of Bama, I believe they play at Mich St here in a couple years , you're right the SEC doesn't really play up north. I don't think they would schedule a H/H with a bad B1G team either. I think it's strictly a recruiting tool for them. You could maybe get a lower tier SEC like Kentucky or vandy. I don't think Fla has left the state in about 20 yrs for OOC.
The problem with scheduling SEC teams is they can schedule crap OOC games and the world still says" yeah but the conf schedule is so tough". So there is no incentive or pressure for them to play anyone. So if you really want to play them you get this, a neutral site that they want. I'm all for Oregon or USC or even Texas. Until the perception that playing in the SEC is like an NFL schedule changes, I think they will still call the shots if you want to play them.
Another thing you can do is try to schedule a home and home with a team you think is on the rise nationally so that by the time you play them they are a really high profile team. I think UCLA is a team like that. Mora is doing a great job and the way they're recruiting they could be a force in a couple of years. The power shift with USC is real, especially with USC's sanctions. And of course the bonus is that UW gets a road game in SoCal where they're trying to boost recruiting. Maybe BA already thinks this way and tries to schedule using this philosophy, and maybe it won't work, but for me it would beat one-time neutral site games half a continent away from home. Once against Bama is fine but making it a habit is a bad idea IMO.
I get everyone's frustration with them not wanting to come up. It frustrates me too. But why would they? Like people have said, they've pretty much earned the right to say "hey if you want to play us, this is when and where we'll do it". The proof of this is the fact B1G schools and others will continue to come down to play them in their territory.
It has to benefit them on more than just a "big game" on national TV. I mean they are in the national spotlight every week, so aside from that they really won't get much out of coming up to Green Bay, for example. We, on the other hand, get a lot more out of coming down to play them in Houston and Dallas for recruiting, big stage, etc. We aren't on the same level as them currently and historically aren't even close, so to be honest we probably should have to travel to their territory to play them. It's frustrating for us fans who want to go to the game and it's an obvious disadvantage in terms of the game itself being played so far away. But I really can't blame them.
"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."
I would really prefer a return neutral game in Lambeau.
That said, if we really want to be in with the big boys, I would step up and play LSU. Yes it is a risk, but the reward would be great.
The only exception is if we can get another solid non-conference ranked opponent to come to Lambeau. If they could get that, say some ACC or Pac 12 team, or a Big East team like say Louisville, then I would say play them and scratch LSU.
If LSU is the only descent team on the table though, lets do it. They are good, but as Clemson showed us this year in the bowl game, they can be beaten.
