It won't hurt that Arkansas is likely only going to win one more game (Mississippi State) at the max. It's possible Arkansas ends the season 0-8 in the SEC.
The only thing Bret really has going for him is the whole nostalgia and aura of the SEC. After that the cupboard is pretty bare. That & Randy Shannon, that guy is a good recruiter, he's a good hire for Bert.
Shannon is gone after this year, guaranteed

For all the "it doesn't sit well with me" and the "I don't know how he can recruit for us while taking visits", you just have to accept that this is the process these days. You don't have to like it, but it is what it is. The kids taking visits and the other kids they are recruiting aren't sitting around on message boards overanalyzing and sweating what everyone else is doing.
And the reason Northwestern can pull the "no visits while committed to us" card is because the decision to attend Northwestern for most if not all recruits isn't driven by football. They are choosing the opportunity to attend Northwestern while playing football.
FWIW...I am not worried about Gault at all, and feel he has every right to take his visits.
I'd like to see us start to get visits from some committed guys. I agree this is the way it is these days. If homegrown recruits like Gault and Panos want to take visits, I have to believe there are lots of others out there who want to do the same.

Not to be absolutely certain is, I think, one of the essential things in rationality. ~ Bertrand Russell
Think about this if you are a 18 year old kid... you see highly touted recruits come in like Mixon, Mama, Plattenburg, and Kamara and the attention they get on campus here. Chanting their names in the stadium.. it has to be an impressionable thing.
Then imagine you are a hometown kid, that committed long ago, not getting the same type of "love" as they call it. I am sure as a 18 year old kid.. it has to raise some question like how come I am not getting that same reaction here? Then you take a visit and you see that reaction elsewhere.
Don't think it leaves an impression?
