I know I was one who was in full meltdown mode on multiple occasions over the last couple of weeks. And for a short time I wavered in my faith of BA. That said, I want to thank those of you who spoke up with common sense and reminded us that BA will right this ship. Although it's very early on, and I agree he must prove it on the field, all indications are that our program is well in hand and we'll take this to the next level...the latter I never had faith Bert could do for us.
So, I want to formally apologize to BA for not having complete faith in him during this process. I attached a good article. Note the rankings are in terms of EFFICIENCY. In terms of AWESOME HIRES, I rank Andersen's hire as the #1 of the off season. I rank Arky's/Bert's as the 100th best. I know that there we're 100 coaching changes, but he's a douche and Arkansas sucks. (Although there's a piece of me that will be thankful for Bert for the good seasons he had here at UW...but I'm a fan and I'm entitled to be irrational sometimes).

"When I get said, I stop being said and be awesome again. True Story." - Barney Stinson
I think Dennis Dodd overvalues Bielema's coaching abilities. He's not going to outcoach or outrecruit Alabama, Florida, or LSU in any season.
If BB is successful at ARK he will gone to the NFL.
BB's priority is money
What I have read is that BB took less then he could have gotten in order to have more for hiring assistants at ARK.
Let us know the next time you take a new job how much of a raise you got.
It is time to put BB behind us, negativity does no one any good.

Lots of hate ITT.
How far down Barry's list was Andersen?

BornToBeRed said: WPS, just a head's up. We might be the most family-friendly board on the network, so take it easy on your normal wps-ness.
Honest question: Do you think Bielema is going to replicate the success without having Alvarez holding his hand?
have fun with BB as your coach, with his marginal in game coaching abilities...
another honest question, is Arkansas playing in a bowl game this year?
No need to be rude. I asked a simple question.
Anyone is a better coach than JLS. I'm still pissed at Petrino for how things went down. He's a terrible person.
Prolly quite a ways down, but honest statement, I'd rather have this guy over Butch Jones, TT, and all the other jokes that were running around on the carousel this time. Outside of CP, one of the best hires we could've made
If God dwells inside us, like some people say, I sure hope He likes enchiladas, because that's what He's getting
I was hoping Arkansas would go after Charlie Strong (he's from Arkansas).
Y'all will be laughing at Bielema all next season; we will suck... bad... really bad...
Nope. Our season went up in flames on April 1st, that's when Petrino had the motorcycle crash. That, numerous injuries, and naming JLS the interim coach tanked our season. We sucked. I know.
Your OP is full of so much homerism and fail:
"...all indications are that our program is well in hand and we'll take this to the next level..."
What indications are you talking about? You hired an up-and-coming coach who has not proven himself in a major conference.
"I rank Andersen's hire as the #1 of the off season. I rank Arky's/Bert's as the 100th best."
Jesus Christ, you've gone off the deep end now. This is probably the most idiotic post I've seen on a message board since I left Rivals last year.
"...but he's [Bielema] a douche..."
"...and Arkansas sucks."
"I'm... irrational sometimes."
Ya don't say...
I'm here to observe and have fun without name calling.
We will never know. No matter who it is and how many people were offered, the team, will always say it was their number 1 choice. I would guess even Colorado, who offered the job to Butch and he said yes and then no, they would say they got the guy they wanted in the end.
Good gosh people, wps88 came over here and wasn't trolling or trashing and you guys want to start acting like you are OSU or MSU.
all in good fun Az...all in good fun.
Yea, I picked up some of that Ohio State arrogance
I took nothing personally, sir. It's ok.
and Merry Christmas wps88, you'll always be our favorite Arky poster.
I think BB was the number one hire of the offseason. He has shown to be a great motivator and has shown that he can build the program on a solid foundation. He's a great developer of talent and he sees the big picture. He understands a team is a cohesion of people and not a collection of talent. He will also build a team that your community can be proud of off the field, and we have not been blown out one time, we have been in every game with Bret at the control. This shows that he is an excellent gameplaner although not an average in game coach.
If I was Arkansas I'd have tried for Butch Jones or Charlie Strong. I would have also found someone who either played or coached in the SEC and understands the SEC.
Good luck with Bret. He is good at connecting with kids. I think generally his teams like him. His issue is he kinda is average or sometimes bad at in game adjustments and time management. There is a reason why many, maybe even a majority of Badger fans were happy he left. Many Badger fans think Bret cost the team wins, including a shot at the national title last year.
The key for Bret is hiring a good offensive coordinator. If he has that, he can do well. If not however other coaches expose him badly. He made a bad hire with the O-Line coach here and the O-Line play was affecting the O-Coord, hence UW lost to Oregon State & Nebraska early in the season.
I would just forewarn about his "pretty" record. He accomplished a lot here in Madison, but the fact is he only won 1 road game vs a ranked team in his entire career here. He only beat Ohio State once in 5 tries. And the big point, he was 2-4 in bowls and 0-2 in Pasadena. He is great at beating bad teams, he will embarrass them. However more often than not he loses on the road.
Bielema said he's lost something like 19 assistants in three years at Wisky simply due to their low payroll. Is that true? Nineteen? Good god...
P.S. I'm not over here trying to rub it in that Arkansas got BB. I'm over here asking multiple questions because I don't know a damn thing about the guy. This hire came outta left field with no clues or hints whatsoever. The only thing I know is that he beat my Hogs in the Capital One Bowl my freshman year in Fayetteville; yes, I was at the game in Orlando. I'm still butthurt lol
I wasn't excited about the hire initially; however, BB is putting together one hell of a staff. He's hired coaches with SEC experience and others with lots of experience recruiting Florida. I wish Arkansas would concentrate on Texas a little more than Florida...
Not even close, many left because they were loyal to the OC, an Alvarez hire, who took a HC job at Pitt. Some were not asked back. If I had to guess he lost 2-3 that were actually regretted which is still high.
Not a huge fan of Bielema but very appreciative for the job he did.
He will bring some much needed stability to your program. You guys deserve a great year after the crap you went through.
Good God, from an NC contender to John L Smith. Last year must have been a nightmare!
My three new year predictions. BB will get the Razorbacks back on track. GA will take the Badgers to the next level, some top ten finishes and big bowl wins and possibly even a final four appearance, and finally the Badgers will beat the Razorbacks in a BCS game ;-).
Merry Christmas Razorback! Your welcome anytime.
