A group of us are coming in for the weekend and are looking for info on the right spots to hit Friday night/Saturday night. I was up in Madison for 2010 game and even though you guys won, we had a great time in Madison. Very friendly crowd.
I loved the bar scene on State. St., so I assume that is still a good spot to be at. Some of the guys coming up with me are a few years removed from college, so they wouldn't mind a place that features the college girls. The rest of us are in our 30s, so we are looking for a bit of an older crowd.
Thanks in advance.
The scene is going to be a lot the same as it was 2 years ago. State street is great for after the game, but not my favorite before. If you're looking for a good bar atmosphere close, head to Lucky's, the Stadium or the Big Ten Pub on Regent St. It's supposed to be relatively nice (50ish), so the outdoor areas will be crowded and have good atmosphere.
Young crowd at night: State State
Old crowd at night: Capital Square
Gameday: Stadium Bar
And thank you, Tornado-ZD24, for coming here with some humility.
I'll go with what wlowry said, with the only additional thingy being that for giant games like this, there is actually a decent overall spread of people all over the place. As long as you keep moving if you're not happy with a spot, I'm sure you'll find some locations with a nice mix and have a ton of fun.
Drink booze, eat cheese curds.
I've heard OSU fans have always had fun at Woofs, the sports bar. It's on King Street on the other side of the square.

Looked it up....sounds like a gay bar

yeah. all other advice is sound.
People will tell you to Old Fashioned. It is great, but it is impossible to get into if you have a bigger group. The last 5 times we've gone we've given up because of the wait. Last month we sent someone to put our name in at 6pm, assuming we'd be eating dinner at 7pm. Nope, 3 hour wait.

thanks for the feedback....looking forward to the weekend.
In 2010, we made the mistake of getting a hotel about 7 miles away from State St. We were there all day/night and drove back to the hotel. Thankfully we were not pulled over, but would have failed a sobriety test. This time around we are paying the extra money to have a hotel that is blocks away from State St.
For your younger guys, State Street Brats, Whiskey Jacks, and Monday's are all the college kid stupid-drunk crowd. I'd head up a little bit, I personally like frequenting the Tiki Shack with my buddies but if you're looking to get canned, go to the first three. If you're feeling particularly daring, the Kollege Klub is where the UW athletes hang out.
I highly recommend that if you go to the KK, that you prepare yourself to act downright wonderful and respectful. Typical OSU behavior will not be tolerated and you will end up getting your ass kicked if you start douching out. Also, be prepared to be harassed and be ready to not give it back. I know it's hypocritical, but the KK is packed with hammered college kids, and they typically aren't the most rational.
"We don't care about anything but winning. No one cares about ethical standards thats for losers..."
Going to agree with that, I'd recommend just not going to the KK in general. Steer clear of Segredos as well, that's the whereabouts where M Ball got jumped.
Don't go to the KK, because you are not worthy of the KK.
Too bad he did'nt bring cheese.

Why would a guy know the name and address of a gay bar unless........oh wait.....never mind....
