I seriously think BA will only return to coaching the Badgers if they win the Rose Bowl. I don't think he should hire an Assistant Coach from within, he has to go big!! If BA doesn't go big and hire a big name coach, say goodbye to recruits, say goodbye to being a B1G Championship contender and say hello to Ohio State Dynasty.

Barry should tell the players that if they win the Rose Bowl, he's on board for a few seasons. A loss means bringing in Coach Chilly. Pretty sure we would win by 50+

It's riduculous in my view to assume he has "missed" on any of these guys. If anything has been demonstrated the last week is that the media outlets have no clue what is going on and are just throwing names back and forth to one other to create content.
Siting "sources" etc. Guess what, only about 2 or 3 people, including BA, have any information and they are not talking. Anyone else you talk to in the athletic department have no more idea than your or me. Why do I know that, because I've talked to some of them.
BA will make a great hire, this I am 100% confident in. He will make a hire whom he feels like is the best "long term" coach for the program. Yes, he will try to do that as soon as possible becuase he understands the value in that, but not at the expense of getting the right guy. Whether that's internal or external.
If that means he loses a few coaches / recruits so be it. Why? Because he understands that if you get the right guy he will hire the right coaches and get the right recruits...
If that happens and UW continues to win at a high level this last week speculation, fan anxiety etc etc will not mean a damn thing.

The program is being told "no" by low to mid tier guys like Paul Rhoads? This is just getting more embarrassing by the day. Didn't want him anyway, but to have guys like that turning down the job, it must not be financially or otherwise competitive. Again, this whole process has become an embarrassment to the University.

Boys, time to toughen up. The angst is because Alvarez is not sharing info with people, a very smart move. All the names mentioned are via third hand and we don't really know the strategy behind it. Many times its to throw red herrings to the masses and the talking heads. A decision can't be announced until Dec 19th, anything until that time is speculation. Alvarez reads the tea leaves, he knows the B1G is getting tougher with OSU. He knows what's needed. Things will be fine.

Everyone that is saying Wisconsin is embarrassing the football program itself because no name coaches are turning down offers, I agree with you 100%. I think BA needs to just coach this game, win and stay in the AD office! Hire a guy who he thinks will compete with the rest of the B1G TEN and let him do what he was hired to do and not put his 2cents in whenever he sees fit. A big name coach needs to be hired!!! Someone who isn't afraid of the fact that Ohio State is gonna dominate. If we get that big name coach, OSU won't stop us
