I still don't think that Petersen is interviewing today. I think that it's all a smokescreen.

Isn't it still just the Big 1070 that's reporting this?

Every story I've seen still cites them. They have about as much credibility as you or I, in my eyes. It must be the first time they havent taken their news and talking points verbatim from the JS/WSJ since I've been in Madison.

A) Boise sources are adamant that Petersen won't be interviewing. He said himself in the Las Vegas Journal he's not interested. Matt Hayes, who apparently is very close to that program, has repeatedly stated that Petersen is not interviewing.

B) I think the fact that 1070 is the one who started the rumor is key. This isn't my thinking, I read it somewhere, but I think it's spot on. Lucas and Lepay are athletic department employees. They also have a show on 1070. So Alvarez gets them to run the story.

C) I have no idea who the main targets are, but floating the Petersen rumor has two positive effects. First, it gives cover to the main targets. It must be easier to interview when you don't have the press following your every move. Second, it puts pressure on those guys.
