For Northwestern to be successful in basketball the first thing they need to do is loosen their admission standards for basketball players. I know people want to point to Duke how they are a great school and are a basketball powerhouse, but please, Coach K can do anything he wants there and you don't get that many McDonalds All Americans to come to your school year in and year out without relaxing the admission standards.

The second thing is they need to either do a MAJOR overhaul of their gym or tear that thing to the ground and build a new gym that holds 7K or 8K. The last time they updated the arena was in the early 80s. The university has just committed millions to a state of the art practice facility for football and some other sports. We all know that football is the straw that stirs the revenue drink, but its time to pay attention to the basketball program too if they want to be competitive.

CBS is reporting that Collins will be hired. Its a nice hire that should help them in recruiting.
