Bielema Talks Dodson Saga

  • Gobucks187TTUN said...

It happened. It was openly discussed when the recruitment was going on. I saw interviews with Brian Rolle both written and radio where he said Wisconsin was still recruiting him. Some were worried about him flipping at the last minute.

You are wrong on this one.

I'm done arguing you guys can continue to believe what you want.

Wisconsin Head Coach Bret Bielema talks about losing Four-star Offensive Tackle Kyle Dodson to Ohio State on Signing Day.

You know that this crap about a gentlemen's agreement is nonsense. Brian Rolle a middle linebacker for OSU who graduated last year, just said Whisky tried to get him to flip to Whisky after he had verbally commited to OSU up until NLOID. I believe that makes Bielema a class A hypocrite. I believe he is trying to blame Urban for the fact that his recruiting class was small and crummy. Classic diversion.

  • "One of the things that happened when Kyle came aboard, I basically said to our staff at the time, 'Ohio State's going to have transition,'" Bielema explained.

"Luke (Fickell) wasn't guaranteed, but I thought there'd be transition. I said' we have to be prepared for when that happens and we can be strong.'"

Dodson notified the staff today about his decision. Bielema says there's no hard feelings between the Badgers and the four-star Offensive Tackle.

"We were to the end and I think the thing that went into it when Kyle reached out to us this afternoon, talked about staying closer to home," Bielema said.

"He's a kid that lives with his grandmother and grandmother only. You can't fault a kid for that."

Wisconsin Head Coach Bret Bielema talks about losing Four-star Offensive Tackle Kyle Dodson to Ohio State on Signing Day.

It is funny based on all of Bielema's whining. When he was asked why he chose OSU, Dodson replied that he committed to Wisconsin because OSU was going through losing their coach and having an interim coach and there didn't seem to be any stability at OSU. Then Wisconsin had their coaching exodus and the guy who recruited him and his position coach both left leaving Wisconsin appearing to be in an unstable period and, in the meantime, OSU had hired Urban Meyer and OSU seemed the much more stable. The OSU recruiters were all going to be there for his tenure at OSU, so he committed to OSU. He also said that he had withdrawn from his Wisconsin commitment before he ever talked to OSU and it was very close with OSU and another school (he wouldn't name the school), probably USC and he didn't make his decision until the day before NSD. Based on this, Bielema has nothing to whine about Urban's "illegal" recruiting.

You guys have serious reading comprehension problems. Or you buy into ESPN and other National sources that are putting out stories based off what they assume is the cause.

Briane Rolle said this while talking about the superbowl on the fan. He really didn't know why they were asking him about recruiting it just happened to be a-hole Brett was trying to get him to flip to Whisky even though he had verbaled to OSU months before. What a two faced douche bag!

He doesn't have any hard feelings toward the kid and says the grandmother has a say in his college choice and wanted him close to home but it was Urban's violation of a gentlemen's agreement that he never agreed to nor did he have a hand in putting in place that was the reason that Dodson chose OSU. Bielema at least needs to get his story straight.

Why do you Buckeye fans even come here? Either you just like trolling (and proving your sub-60 IQs) or you just really like to hear yourself talk so much that you actually do not listen to what anyone else says.

What Bret talked about had nothing to do with Dodson, a "gentleman's agreement" or recruiting verbal commits, none of which is illegal.

Buckeyes who keep bringing these up remind me of the old saying:

  • Bretts problem with the Dodson situation-Nothing

Bretts problem with Urban Meyer-The recruitment of Jacoby Brissett (Florida) and contacting Walker Williams during a dead period.

    That is it.

  • You guys familiar with the concept of a rhyme scheme? It's like in a song or a poem how the lines are constructed to rhyme with one another. So a song with a rhyme scheme of ABAB might have the first four lines end in the words 'ball' 'bat' 'tall' and 'cat' respectively.

This thread reminds me of an ABAB rhyme scheme. In this case, though, A represents OSU fans saying, "Bielema is a loser for whining about Meyer recruiting kids who are already committed." B represents UW fans saying, "We keep telling you, Bielema's comments had nothing to do with Meyer recruiting kids who are already committed." And the song continues ABABABAB ad infinitum.

How is Dodson different than K.Kalis and Dunn being recruited by Mich while already committed to tOSU? Or Dantonio going hard after A.Washington a week before signing day? If these kids were 100% committed, they would say no thanks to the coaches. Wisconsin's problem started when they lost most of their coaching staff!

Hate to say it, but it's good for the Big Ten!

Why is it good for the Big Ten? Because this is exactly what goes on in the SEC (well minus the money exchange). Coaches need to compete hard for players to come to their school. Do you think Coach B is going to learn from his mistakes for the next time? I think so.

I think you are correct and I made the same point on the OSU boards. The BIG needs to step up overall in its recruiting and a rising tide will lift all boats.

I'm extremely happy with our class at TOSU and I think it's good that Michigan is recruiting well. The rest of the BIG did a poor job, especially Nebraska and Wisconsin. It's hard to point the finger at Penn St. considering their circumstances, but Bilema and Pellini should be embarrassed as they are among the BIG's flagship programs. Along with Dantonio, Bilema needs to recognize that Meyer took him to school this year, and figure out how he needs to raise his game so it doesn't happen again.

It is very interesting to look back at SEC history and see how many of their key decisions, including creation of a championship game, paid dividends. Except for creating its own TV network, which was a great move, The BIG has been too slow in adapting to change. It shouldn't have taken OSU getting crushed at the hands of Florida for the BIG to wake up and realize we needed a championship game. As a conference, we should learn from the SEC model in many ways, competitive recruiting being among them. They are expanding their geographical footprint with Missouri and Texas A&M while we are pining after ND and chasing down Texas.

Our conference needs to broaden its footprint, strengthen its national image and appeal.

One fat ass complaining to another fat ass...Belly to Alvy! Dantonio, I lost all respect for him. I never had any for Fat ass!

I will thoroughly enjoy the beat down we are going to lay on your pathetic Suckeyes on Sept 29. It's going to be even more epic than the shutout we would have laid on you last season...sadly Dantonio backed off embarrassing his friend Luke and gave them a score in the last minute...he made it pretty clear the gloves are off now.

You just showed your IQ. I wouldn't think nobody would let a team score when it was 10-0 with about 5:00 minutes to play. I can tell you this...no more seasons like last year and little Michigan (Michigan State) wont beat the Buckeyes for a long time.

  • One thing that has been proven in this thread is that OSU fans are a different shade of retarded. It's good to know that there will always be some one to make my coffee. As stated several times this whole thing is about negative recruiting. Truthfully I am not even made at Urban Liar as I expected that when he came on. In this situation I am more pissed at the kid who knew he was gone a month ago.

Not as much insight as we gain from you thinking you can quantify an entire region's intelligence level based off the writings of a few individuals on a football forum. Forget about this imagined link of yours between spelling and intelligence potentials. I'd say your comment is the dumbest one yet.

Meador wasn't committed to Mississippi. He decommitted on Jan. 15 and the Badgers offered him the following week. 10 seconds of research would've saved you from looking like an idiot.

Hmmmm, so Wisky hires the Ole Miss OL coach who secured his Meadors commitment on Jan 21st.

And when Meadors de-commits on Jan 15th, Meadors had NO IDEA that was under way, right?

You would truly HAVE TO be an idiot to believe that.

No problem with Meadors decision as the coaching staff changes blew it all open again (sounds familiar doesn't it?). I have no problem with Wisky recruiting him, or even with them hiring the OL coach knowing he could likely flip Meadors.

What I do have is a problem with whiny cheesedicks who like to cry about bad ole OSU but do the exact same things, especially that big blubbery ball of Beilema.
