I'm not bashing White - he's a great talent. But in your example (Calhoun) - he had the one year of extreme production that you mention and never survived another year with his NFL career fizzling out with one injury after another.

Calhoun was a huge part of the offense that year and that is a lot of touches no doubt. That would take its toll on his body but I always remember Calhoun having an ability to avoid the big hit. He was slippery and always seemed to get down at the right time.

Going back to Calhoun for a minute its truly mind boggling to me. His 2005 year has got to be one of the most unrecognized great seasons in all of college football. Calhoun had 1636 yards rushing with 22 TDs and 571 receiving yards with another two touchdowns. All told he had 2207 total yards with 24 touchdowns on 401 touches. Just remarkable. Even with all of that he was not even a finalist for the Doak Walker award. Just a truly amazing 1 season for BC in Cardinal and White.
