Even with six commitments from within their borders, Wisconsin isn't done with in-state recruiting. Madison (Wis.) Memorial Athlete Daurice Fountain is in talks about an offer from the Badgers, but on Thursday they offered Grafton (Wis.) Tight End/Offensive Tackle Beau Benzschawel, who was committed to Syracuse.
It didn't take long before Benzschawel switched his commitment from Syracuse to Wisconsin, giving his verbal commitment to Assistant Coach Ben Strickland and the Badgers Thursday morning.
"It has always been my dream to play at Wisconsin," Benzschawel told Badger247. "Being a Wisconsin kid, there is nothing better."
Benzschawel originally committed to Syracuse in early October over other offers from Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Iowa State, North Dakota, Northern Colorado, and Wyoming.
Ranked as the nation's No. 153 offensive tackle in the country, Benzschawel is commitment No. 17 for the Badgers and the seventh for Strickland in the class of 2014. The two-star prospect was offered as both a tight end and offensive tackle by Wisconsin.
