Badgers get help at cornerback

Sturghill is commitment No. 25 for Wisconsin.

As soon as Gary Andersen and his staff came to Madison, they provided some last minute sparks before National Signing Day. So far, 2014 has been no different as Wisconsin added Memphis (Tenn.) Melrose Athlete Cornelius Sturghill to its recruiting class.

"I've been wanting to announce it all week," Sturghill told Badger247. "I decided today I feel I can contribute real early there."

Sturghill committed to the Badgers over his other finalists UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Western Kentucky. The three-star athlete also had offers from Mississippi State, Northern Illinois, and Purdue among others, with late interest coming from Louisville and Missouri.

Assistant Coach Chad Kauha'aha'a was the lead recruiter for Sturghill and offered him a scholarship last Thursday. Still, it was enough time for the 247sports Composite No. 64 ranked athlete to make up his mind.

Sturghill will begin his career as a cornerback for the Badgers. He will take an official visit to Madison the weekend of January 31st.
