Maxwell makes the switch

Greendale (Wis.) Offensive Tackle Jacob Maxwell has changed his commitment from Northern Illinois to Wisconsin. The two-star lineman notified Badger247 that he gave Head Coach Gary Andersen and the Badgers his verbal commitment following his unofficial visit to Madison Wednesday, and has spoken to Northern Illinois to notify them of the change.

"This recruiting class is amazing and I feel that I could have a very successful career at Wisconsin," Maxwell said. "Also playing for the Badgers gives me the best opportunity to make it to the NFL. Wisconsin is an amazing school which will allow me to be successful after my football career."

Maxwell is the 22nd known verbal commitment for Wisconsin in their 2014 class. He's the fourth offensive lineman, joining Jaden Gault, Michael Deiter, and George Panos. The nation's No. 169 ranked offensive tackle was recruited by Assistant Coaches Ben Strickland and T.J. Woods.

Maxwell was a first-team all-state selection as a senior.
