I love James Franklin. Not as much as Petersen but I think he's a great coach. He also is a good recruiter. You know when a guy can have a class ranked at Vanderbilt he is a good recruiter, and he also guided his Commodores to an 8-4 record in the SEC this year. Very good young coach.

Does he have interest though? Who knows.

At this point I'm getting the feeling nobody truly knows. I get the sense Alvarez is going to keep this very hush-hush and nobody will actually know who the real guy is until its announced.

Maybe I'm delusional, but I don't think Petersen is out of the works yet. The reason being is A: I think Barry & CP would want to keep this very quiet. Also, the job posting doesn't even end until Dec 19th, over a week from now, and CP's bowl game is the 22nd. In other words, similar to how Bielema left, it would not totally shock me if CP left suddenly, probably after the bowl game, and the only people that maybe would have an idea of his intentions would be himself, Barry, the Boise AD, and his wife.

Barry is going to do the opposite of Tennessee. If all goes to plan nobody, not fans, not the boosters, and not the media, will have any clue until its announced. My guess is he wants to keep this as incognito as possible.
