Wisconsin will retain Brookfield (Wis.) East 2013 Defensive End Alec James as apart of their 2013 recruiting class.
James, who was down to Oregon and Wisconsin, told Badger247 he made the decision to stick with the Badgers a few days ago.
"He made up his mind on Wisconsin," James' mother told Badger247 Wednesday morning.
James, a three-star defensive end, took an official visit to Oregon the weekend of January 11. The 247 composite's No. 22 ranked athlete was in Madison last weekend to meet with Head Coach Gary Andersen, Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda, and the rest of the staff.
"He just smiled the whole time," Heidi James said. "He was very impressed with the coaching staff."
James received in-home visits from Arkansas, Oregon, and Wisconsin, but couldn't shake the feeling that new head coach Gary Andersen was building something exciting in Madison.
"It's the right place for me and I think Andersen (Head Coach Gary Andersen) has something special going on," James said.
James held other offers from Arizona State, Clemson, Illinois, Iowa State, Michigan State, Minnesota, Notre Dame, TCU, and Vanderbilt.
