SOURCES: Ball will return to UW

According to multiple sources close to the Wisconsin football program, junior running back Montee Ball will forgo entering his name in the NFL draft and return to Wisconsin for his senior season.

Ball had addressed his team on his decision, following Wisconsin's 45-38 loss to Oregon in the Rose Bowl, according to these sources.

Sources say Ball decided to come back because of the love he has for the University Wisconsin and it's football program.

Sources also say that Ball is expected to make his decision public later today, leaving open the possibility that the junior running back could have changed his mind by now, but as of Monday, he was planning on returning to school.

This season, Ball rushed for 1,923 yards, totaling 39 touchdowns, while leading the Badgers to an 11-3 record and a Big Ten Championship.

Ball was also a Doak Walker Award and Heisman Trophy finalist.

Nothing is guaranteed in the NFL. He loves Wisconsin and wants to stay. Good for him.

Well he told his teammates he was coming back right after the RB loss. Probably making sure he wasn't acting out on emotion.

If he indeed stood up and told everyone, it would be pretty bad if he went back on that. I don't think he would though, too good of a person to pull something like that.

Looking like he's having some doubts. Every dipshit with a Twitter account is apparently now an NFL RB scout and knows Ball's body better than he does. Wouldn't be surprised if he was scared off a little by some of the reaction and/or maybe it's just now hitting him how big of a paycheck he's giving up.

Actually, its not that big of a paycheck. Late first or early second doesn't pay that much under the new CBA. He would probably get more money if he stayed and entered the 2013 draft as the best RB in the class.
Also, remember what John Clay did. Ball saw him go pro a year early and he didn't even get drafted. He sat on the practice squad for 95%the of the season.

I agree, but going from living off a scholarship to an NFL payday is still considerable.

He's probably waiting to see what some of the other RBs are going to do, and how he stacks up against them. Assuming Trent Richardson goes, that puts Montee behind him, Lamar Miller and Chris Polk who have already declared.
Then there's David Wilson, who would be ahead of Ball. LaMichael James might be behind, but because of his speed, teams know he can be a change of pace back.
At this point he's probably looking at the 3rd round at best. So at a time when everyone says RBs have to go, he could actually go back and prove he's the man without Russell.
