Okay so it's not the "Super Six" Wisconsin first envisioned in early into the spring, but the Badgers will certainly take Mukwonago (Wis.) Linebacker Dominic Cizauskas as their sixth in-state pledge in 2014, as the 6-foot-2, 250-pound prospect committed to Wisconsin.
Cizauskas became Wisconsin's seventh commitment in the class of 2014.
"It's a dream come true," Cizauskas told Badger247. "I've been to Wisconsin and met the coaching staff three or four times now. They're really good guys. Coach Andersen (Gary Andersen) is a straight up guy. He showed he's going to care for me in every aspect of life.
"All the facilities are brand new, state of the art. That's just what you need. It's a dream school of mine. I just thought it was the right thing to do."
Hoping to land in-state targets Gaelin Elmore, Billy Hirschfeld, and Craig Evans, along with their early commitments from George Panos, Conor Sheehy, and Jaden Gault, the Badgers originally identified those six prospects as the top priorities within their borders. Hirschfeld and Evans eventually joined the class, while Elmore spurned Wisconsin for Minnesota, but Cizauskas always remained high on the recruiting board, and earned an offer from the Badgers last Tuesday at camp.
"It just drove me even more," Cizauskas said about not being among the top six in-state targets. "It made me work even harder. Yeah I'm not in the top six, but I was right on the border. I just kept working, and working until finally, yesterday I got the offer."
Cizauskas is a two-time All-Conference performer in the Classic Eight, taking home firs-team honors as a junior. Cizauskas was also named to the All-Area, All-County, and All-State honorable mention teams in 2012 as well.
The in-state linebacker told Andersen of his decision Wednesday afternoon.
"He said he had a smile on his face and said the Wisconsin football program got a lot better today," Cizauskas explained.
He chose Wisconsin over other offers from Minnesota and Northern Illinois among others. Cizauskas is commitment number seven in Wisconsin's 2014 recruiting class.
