O'Brien named the starter

Danny O'Brien will start the season opener for Wisconsin next Saturday.
Junior Quarterback Danny O'Brien will start the season opener against Northern Iowa next Saturday.
"I think just the presence he's shown since he's been here," Bielema said. "He's really good in all types of situations. The thing that's kind of intrigued me, is his ability to make something happen when nothing is there. He has the ability to do some things with his feet, that I didn't really know, coming into this, that he was as good as he is."
Right Guard not settled
Dan Voltz and Kyle Costigan are still competing for the starting right guard position.
"At the right guard position we're going to give Kyle Costigan and Dan Voltz an opportunity, to see who can make the most amount of gains here this week," said Bielema. "Obviously we would like to name a starter before we start game week preparation. Robert Burge has given us a lot of good things in there, but he's going to have to do a little bit more tackle this week. He'll have to be a role player for us up front."
Keefer moves to defensive tackle
A former Army All-American at outside linebacker, Freshman Jake Keefer will move to defensive tackle.
"He just did a lot of good things in the scrimmage the other day," Bielema said. "That was intriguing for us. He went up to 250 (pounds) over the course of the summer. I don't know how much he's going to put on right now, but he just plays big. He's one of those kids that probably plays a little bigger than he is."

Adeyanju, Hayes not quite there
Freshman defensive ends James Adeyanju and Jesse Hayes have been impressive, but are still a ways away from contributing.
"Both of them have to learn what day to day means," Bielema said. "Jesse, on Saturday, was not at an optimum level for us. He came out with a different attitude tonight and played extremely well. I've been happy with James Adeyanju. He's continued to flash. One thing I know for sure, both of them have the talent to play here, now they got to get the heart and the mindset to do it."
