With only a few uncommitted in-state prospects remaining in the class of 2012, Badger247 thought it would be fitting to take a deeper look at a talented and gifted class of 2013.
In this installment of “In-state Introduction," we take a closer look at Dylan Chmura, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end from Waukesha (Wis.) West.
The following is a question and answer segment with the aforementioned Chmura.
Could you touch on the schools currently showing interest?
Chmura: I’m hearing from Wisconsin, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Northwestern, Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Kansas State.
Have you taken any unofficial visits?
Chmura:This season I’ve been to Wisconsin, Northwestern, Iowa and Michigan State. This coming weekend I’ll be at Notre Dame. Then that following weekend I’ll be back at Wisconsin.
How was your visit to Wisconsin? Has the staff given you any feedback?
Chmura: It’s the basic interest. They want me to come to the games and visit the campus.
What are your thoughts on the other Big Ten schools you’ve visited…Northwestern, Iowa and Michigan State?
Chmura: They were all showing me pretty much the same thing. They are all interested at this point. Each schools got me out to see a game and visit their campus and facilities.
You also mentioned Notre Dame. What are your thoughts on the upcoming visit?
Chmura: It will be fun. It’s a great campus. They have great tradition surrounding their football program. It will be great to visit and check out the campus.
The ACL injury that you suffered during basketball season forced you to miss your junior season. Has it affected the recruiting process for you?
Chmura: I’m at 100% now. Actually, I didn’t even catch a hiccup with the recruiting process. The schools told me to get it back to 100% and they wouldn’t worry about it.
Do you have any plans for the spring or summer? Will you attend any camps or combines?
Chmura: Yeah, I’ll probably attend a few camps. I was invited to the Army All-American Combine. I’ll probably be attending that in January.
What are your strengths on the football field?
Chmura: I’m a good blocker. I'm good at route running, too…getting open. I have some speed and I can catch the ball pretty well. All around I’m a balanced player, I guess.
Do you have a set target weight for the start of your senior season?
Chmura: Right now, I’m 6-foot-6, 225 pounds. I’m looking to gain about 7-10 pounds for the upcoming season. I’d like to be around 230 and 235 next August.
