Early Look: Penn State

Matt McGloin

Can McGloin and the Nittany Lions rebound from a frustrating end to the 2011 season?

Badger247 gives a detailed preview of Wisconsin's 2012-2013 opponents in reverse order, starting with the Penn State Nittany Lions.

    • Pretty good preview, Evan. I'll add a few comments:

-- Stephfon Green graduated, he's gone. Bill Belton will most likely be the other RB to see significant playing time - he's an ideal 3rd down back.

-- This is just a nitpick, but while saying we're replacing 4 starters on the OL is technically true...John Urschel and DeOn'Tae Pannell were sort of the McGloin/Bolden of the OL. They rotated in and out every few series for most of the season. The OL will definitely be key.

-- Who was the second First-Team All Big Ten player on the DL? Obviously Still was one...was Crawford? If so, he didn't deserve it. The key guy on the DL is going to be the returning 1-tech DT, Jordan Hill. He was overshadowed by Still last year, but a number of people thought Hill was better than Still at times last year. Stanley has a ton of experience and Massaro was our best pass rusher two years ago. Will have to see how he returns from injury.

I personally think our schedule is set up pretty well this year. No gimmes in OOC, but no teams are guaranteed losses (like Alabama was last year). I expect 8-9 wins, but 7 is a reasonable estimate.
