Dodson committed, will look around

Kyle Dodson

Will Kyle Dodson be a Badger in 2012?

Wisconsin commit Kyle Dodson has notified the Badger coaching staff that he intends to look around at other schools.

    • Well sounds like he is all but gone. He's already done the hard part of telling the coaches he's going to look around. If he goes hopefully we can get Diamond.

And it sounds like Diamond is leaning that way as well. I wonder who is next on their radar if Dodson leaves and Diamond also goes. I'd think we could flip Miller back from SDSU, be interesting to see what happens.

    • Diamond is also visiting Ohio State this weekend, and he sounds like he's really excited about Urban Meyer being at Ohio State. Ohio State's depth at offensive line is razor thin next year, and there's immediate playing time to be had, especially for tackles. I'm sure Urban will sell that for all it's worth.

    • Frustrating to say the least. I understand and support players looking around if something changes at the school they have committed to (coaching changes, get overrecruited, sanctions, PSU, etc.), but to change like this I have a hard time liking. And that goes to situations that have benefited us in the past.

Agreed. I guess we did it with Melvin Gordon and even Derek Watt recently. Although Watt could have been that they didn't have a scholarship for him initially.

We'll just have to accept it I suppose. Don't know why someone would verbal and then change their mind unless an offer came from a preferred school that was there prior to the verbal. If Dodson really liked OSU from the beginning and they gave him little love in the past, a different coaching staff could flip the switch for him.

    • Not here to gloat but thought you should know word is that he'll likely visit us in LA too.

    • Win the Rose Bowl, and he's not going anywhere. Just my two cents.

Isn't he from the same school as Walker ... Glenville?

I liked him for us early (b4 he committed to the Badgers) but at this point, and considering everyone still on our board plus those already in the barn, I'd take any serious interest in Dodson on our part as bad news vis-a-vis someone USC'd rather have.

    • This kid was a shoe in at OSU before the Jim Tressel scandal broke. When Luke Fickell came on board he was stuck with our OC Bollman, who is an idiot and didn't pursue Dodson as he should have. Other school were telling Dodson that OSU would get hit with major sanctions and this is what made him a Badger lean. Now that Meyer is in charge things are looking 180 degrees better and Dodson has decided to take a look at the school he was always a big fan of. By the way he is from Cleveland Heights, not Glenville.

    • he didn't just choose Wisconsin based on OSU's troubles. He also did becuase his HS coach is an alumni and we have a great track record for developing OL talent. If the kid would rather be somewhere else I would rather him do so. It is better for both parties. He is a very talented kid with even more potential, but he is not a can't lose recruit for us. It is an area that wouldn't hurt us. I just hope he is making his decision with all of his own thoughts rather than just listening to the Urban start right away legend.

    • If he wants to play for the top OL school in the B1G and one of the best in CFB he'll stick to the Badgers.

Or if he wants to win a National Championship, he'll switch to the Buckeyes.

Based on recent history I think we are in a better position then OSU.

Seriously? Not to be a jerk, but you guys couldn't even beat our worst team in 15 years. With Meyer at the helm, you really think it's looking good for you guys?

So we couldn't beat your worst team? If we played that game again and we don't have the heart of our team ripped out by Michigan State we win easily. Not being a jerk and I know that's hindsight, but I really feel that is the case.

      Also 2010 says hi.

You guys can have 2010 (which was vacated so doesn't matter) and Ohio State is 54-18-5 all time against Wisconsin...

Also History and TCU say hi.
