Clement becomes the 16th commit for Wisconsin in the class-of-2013.
It was Corey Clement’s birthday on Friday, but it was the Wisconsin Badgers landing a huge gift.
The Top100 running back out of Glassboro (N.J.) High announced his commitment to the Big Ten program during a morning press conference at his school.
“Just felt comfortable, felt wanted, and felt as if I can become a better person there as far as an athlete and as a student with their help,” Clement told 247Sports on Thursday night.
Ranked by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 8 running back and No. 78 prospect overall, the 5-foot-11, 205-pound Clement chose the Badgers over finalists Nebraska, Notre Dame and Pitt. He was a one-time Panther commit but reopened the recruiting process following his official visit to Wisconsin the weekend of Oct. 19.
Clement becomes the 16th commit for Wisconsin in the class-of-2013, and the second future Badger ranked inside the Top247, joining defensive end Chikwe Obasih.
South Jersey’s all-time leading rusher, Clement has gained 1,669 yards and scored 23 touchdowns this fall on just 130 carries (12.84 avg.). As a junior he ran for 2,510 yards and 36 touchdowns, and also held scholarship offers from Boston College, Florida State, Iowa, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia.
