Former University of Wisconsin Assistant Coach Tony Bennett will lead his Virginia Cavaliers squad into the Kohl Center to take on the Wisconsin Badgers in the annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
Bennett will return to Madison for the first time since we has an Assistant Coach for Wisconsin from 1999-2003
Bennett, who was an Assistant Coach in Madison from 1999-2003 and under Bo Ryan from 2001-2003, led the Cavaliers to a 22-10 record last season, which ended in the second round of the NCAA Tournament with a 71-45 loss to Florida.
Wisconsin will enter the match up with Virginia with a 6-7 record overall in the challenge, but the Badgers are 4-1 inside the Kohl Center against the ACC in challenge play.
Virginia meanwhile, sports a 7-5 overall record in the challenge, but are just 1-3 on the road.
The programs haven't met since 1998 when Wisconsin prevailed 66-56 at the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Virginia and Wisconsin have met a total of two times, with the Cavaliers taking the only other contest in 1974.
The Cavaliers will feature an experienced back court in junior guard Joe Harris, who averaged 11.5 points per game last season, and senior guard Jontel Evans, who scored 7.3 points per contest.
Virginia also features former Merrill (Wis.) standout Paul Jesperson, who came off the bench to average over 10 minutes a game as a true freshman.
Virginia and Wisconsin are set to tip off Wednesday November 28. The ACC won the first 10 challenges against the Big Ten, but the Big Ten has rallied to win the last three.
